Femme Filmmakers Festival: Beyond the Lights

DAY NINE Thursday 15th September 2016 (all-day event)

Film: Beyond the Lights

Femme Filmmaker: Gina Prince-Bythewood

Beyond the Lights was the other half of the Gugu Mbatha-Raw breakthrough combo of 2014 (the other being Belle, also directed by a woman). Gina Prince-Bythewood’s romantic drama also features Minnie Driver, Nate Parker, and Danny Glover (who also played alongside Mbatha-Raw in the TV drama Touch). A story of ambition and success, and how independence and love make the whole journey a see-saw one.

Agenda

Once again, if you reside in America you’re laughing, anywhere else you are scrabbling for a stream or rummaging through your purses. Though £6.99 to pay for a film to watch in the comfort of your own home (or office) is not too bad. Should you want to give this one a miss (you bunch of Scrooges) then feel free to check back on today’s suggestions as posted yesterday. Comments and shares always welcome of course.
