Cold War and The Favourite Lead Film Honors 2018 Nominations

A whole year of film is a lot of hours. Bookmarking the great ones, discarding the not so great ones. Not to mention the huge batch of films you just don’t know exactly where to put. There is also hours and hours and hours of debating, film-twittering, changing your mind, adoration, dismay – and this is long after you watch the films mostly.

So much thought gone into this year’s nominations of my very own choices for the best of the year that I am not even sure what is what anymore. What I do know the likes of The Favourite and Cold War resonated enough with me to gather the most mentions here.

But also there is a lot of love for The Breadwinner, Burning, On Her Shoulders, You Were Never Really Here, The Rider, Shoplifters, and Utøya: July 22 – making up my top 10 of 2018. That said, just missing out on that final shortlist were films like Dogman, Minding the Gap, Roma, Hereditary, Tehran Taboo, Tigers Are Not Afraid, Beauty and the Dogs, and Happy as Lazzaro.
