So for the first time, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decided to announce their shortlists (prior to nominations) in bulk. That is to say, nine of the categories that follow this process of rounds, were all declared in the same session rather than scattered across awards season as usual.
The nine categories are: Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Original Score, Original Song, Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, and Visual Effects. The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards will take place on Tuesday 2nd January 2019, and the Oscars ceremony will be held on Sunday 24th February 2019. For more information visit: www.oscars.org
