The Writers Guild of America has announced the nominations for the 77th Writers Guild of America Awards. In the original screenplay category, the nominations are Anora, Challengers, Civil War, My Old Ass, and A Real Pain while in the adapted category, the nominees are A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two, Hit Man, Nickel Boys, and Wicked.
While these nominees are generally a good indicator for the two Screenplay categories at the Academy Awards, only screenplays written under the WGA’s guidelines are eligible for their annual awards. Oscar contenders like Conclave, Emilia Pérez, The Room Next Door, Sing Sing, The Brutalist, A Different Man, Hard Truths, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, and The Substance were some of the screenplays ruled ineligible this season.
Full list of nominations below. The WGA Awards will be held on February 15.
