Haolu Wang, Sophie B Jacques, Nora Kirkpatrick Conquer FemmeFilmFest20 as Roll of Honour announced

Sunday 6th September 2020. The 5th Femme Filmmakers Festival comes to a close later this evening. Earlier, the Roll of Honour was announced for the 20 short films in the Competition Selection, in 15 award categories.

Three films won a trio of prizes each. Nora Kirkpatrick’s Long Time Listener, First Time Caller won the grand prize, Gold Sovereign, as well as Cinematography and Female Performance for Breeda Wool. The latter prize shared with actress Lu Huang for The Pregnant Ground – which also scooped the Bronze Bell (third prize) and Sound. Foyer won the Silver Sword (runner-up), Editing and Director prize for Sophie B Jacques.

A Special Contribution award was given to the child performance from Dalia Binzari for Juste Moi et Toi. Writing went to Armita Keyani for Welcome Home. While the Male Performance went to Ptolemy Slocum for Uproot. A truly remarkable feat was achieved by Kelsie Moore who had three acclaimed films in the Competition Selection – The Get, The Gray Area and Shelter in Place – and was awarded the Maya Deren Short Film Innovation prize.

Others winners included four animation short films. Girl in the Hallway won Mixed Media, Home won Visual Design, while the Music prize was shared by El Mago Georges and The Story of Painted Songs. See the full winners list here:
