To commemorate my mother, June Rose, as we near our first year without her. I’m here to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the people who supported her in that long fight until the end, on June 9th 2018.
I sat with my sleeping mother for hours, playing her just some of the music that took me back or that she loved, talking about that and some of our memories, until she finally took her very last breath at 5:30pm (UK) on Saturday 9th June 2018. God rest your dear soul. I love you. pic.twitter.com/jtfFegMmhw

I vividly remember telling my mother while she was in the hospital that I was going to raise money for cancer support through my website. I took that as an oath, one I simply could not break. I knew I had a huge community in the film world, so it seemed the obvious place to start. That said, my affinity with films had little to do with my mother, but even then I have very fond, set-in-stone memories. The four movies in one day on the eve of my 16th birthday – Reservoir Dogs, Sister Act, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Single White Female. She also introduced me to Terms of Endearment without even realizing. Seeing Blade Runner: Director’s Cut and comparing it to the original. How she was thrilled by the incredible sound in the theatre during Backdraft. While watching Vamp, my mother got up and walked out of the living room saying “It’s fucking sick this film” – my brother and I still laugh at that.
