76th Golden Globe Awards: Nomination Predictions

Since the Hollywood Foreign Press Association will be announcing their nominations for the annual Golden Globe Awards on December 6th which is steadily approaching, that means it’s time to give some predictions to see how the nominations will play out. Before I go further, I’ll just say that even though I have my predictions in every single film category, the Globes can be pretty hard to predict.

I remember a couple years ago when the Golden Globe nominations were announced and I was so sure that Sally Field was a lock for an Actress-Musical/Comedy nomination for Hello, My Name Is Doris before she was ultimately left out. Also, last year, there were those of us that figured that The Big Sick would have a decent showing only for it to get completely shut out. So, you never know what you’ll get with the Golden Globes or whether a nomination that you think is completely sewn up will lose its thread.

That being said, I think A Star Is Born is going to have quite a good morning and despite the financial under-performance of First Man, it’ll probably also do well. Also, even though I don’t think Black Panther will be included in every category that it can, it may still go the way of Mad Max: Fury Road and be nominated in Best Motion Picture-Drama by the skin of its teeth.

Anyhow, here are my predictions for the nominations in the film categories at this year’s Golden Globe Awards:
