Sophie Heldman stems from Germany, but she found a calling in the true story that was in the lives of Jane Cumming, Jane Pirie and Marianne Wood. A true tale of events that occurred in 1810 Edinburgh, Heldman knew she wanted to make a film that shared their tale and the fallback that hit their lives. Amidst the 76th Berlin Film Festival, I sat down with the writer-director to discuss the film and the importance of sharing these stories that might otherwise have stayed hidden away.
