With the Cannes Film Festival postponed until whoever knows when, here at Filmotomy we are going ahead with Cannes coverage as planned between 12-23 May. Only this time around, of course, the content won’t be of the 2020 edition and all the new flock of cinema we were eager to see. No, we will be cramming those days with all manner of submissions from the history of Cannes.
I, myself, will be ferociously churning out some written pieces from some of my own favourite winners from the festival over the years. And so can you. Whether it’s something you have already written, or wish to write a fresh piece, or even have your work linked back, then this is a great opportunity to promote your hard work as well as paying tribute to the endless cinematic talents that have appeared on the Promenade de la Croisette.
There’s no real limitations here. The content can cover various winners over the 70+ years of Cannes history – Palme d’Or winners, Grand Prize, Un Certain Regard, acting wins, Queer Palm – I mean, there’s more than enough to go around. In brief, here is what you can offer:
- Contribute snippets to upcoming pieces;
- Write a brand new piece / review / analysis;
- Submit previously published writing for cross-posting;
- Allow your related written work to be linked on the site.
Here are the main prizes handed out over the years, by category, so check out the films on offer (links open in new window):
- Palme d’Or
- Grand Prix
- Prix du Jury
- Prix d’interprétation féminine (Actress)
- Prix d’interprétation masculine (Actor)
- Prix de la mise en scène (Director)
- Prix du scénario (Screenplay)
- Prix Un Certain Regard
- Queer Palm
I’ll be standing by in anticipation and here to take any of your questions. I cannot wait to read your work.
