Netflix today released the final trailer for their Shakespearean drama epic, The King starring teen heartthrob, Timothée Chalamet, as well as Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Lily-Rose Depp with Ben Mendelsohn and the future Mr. Wayne himself, Robert Pattinson. Australian director David Michôd is behind the camera while he also pens the screenplay with Joel Edgerton.
The King follows Hal (Chalamet), a wayward prince and reluctant heir to the English throne who has turned his back on royal life and is living among the people. But when his tyrannical father dies, Hal is crowned King Henry V and is forced to embrace the life he had previously tried to escape. Now, Hal must navigate the palace politics, chaos and war his father left behind, and the emotional strings of his past life – including his relationship with his closest friend and mentor, the aging alcoholic knight, John Falstaff (Edgerton).
Since the The King premiered at the Venice Film Festival back in September, the film has been praised for its strong source material and gripping performances particularly from Chalamet. While currently holding a 71% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes as well. The King seems to be promising with evidently stunning cinematography helmed by Adam Arkapaw and standout performances across the board with what looks to be competent direction from Michôd.
The King releases exclusively on Netflix from November 1st and is also in select cinemas internationally.
