Studio Ghibli fans are having a feast this year. Classics of the studio have been projected on the big screen at film fests, and some favorites have been re-released in special editions Blu-Rays and DVDs. This month alone special editions of Spirited Away (2001) and Princess Mononoke (1997) are going to be released by their respective distributors.
On the 16th of December, STUDIOCANAL is joining this trend by releasing a 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition of one of the most beloved films in Hayao Miyazaki’s career, Eiko Kadono’s Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989).
This edition, which will be exclusively released on Amazon and already available to pre-order, will include a DVD & Blu-ray Doubleplay edition of the film, a deluxe oversized rigid box with brand new artwork, a 208-page hardback “The Art of Kiki’s Delivery Service” book, exclusive oversized 8.5”x 11.5”art cards, an unique 23.5” x 32.5” poster featuring original Japanese theatrical artwork from 1989, a premium cotton Jiji tea towel, a recipe card set, an embroidered sew on patch featuring the anniversary logo, and each unit will be holographically numbered.
The film will also include special features such as the complete feature film storyboards, characters featurettes, a look behind the scene, trailers, and much, much more. Since this is a collector’s item, only 1000 units will be sold, so don’t wait and separate your copy now!
