The Most Anticipated TV Shows to Watch in 2025

This year marks truly marathon TV-worthy content with popular returning shows like Severance, The White Lotus and The Last of Us. But the biggest pull this year comes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Spin-offs and animated miniseries sees the biggest push on the platform of Disney Plus.

Just like the most highly-anticipated superhero movies of 2025, from Superman to The Fantastic Four, Marvel and Disney have plenty of superhero shows to catch throughout this year. The Black Panther franchise receives two animated spin-off miniseries with Ironheart, and Eyes of Wakanda. While the team of Marvel superheroes experience a reimagined world in Marvel Zombies.

More superhero adaptations to look out for includes the new show, Wonder Man and the rather long-awaited Daredevil: Born Again. There’s other highly-anticipated shows which fans are sitting on the edge of their seats for such as, Netflix hits, Stranger Things: season five and returning to Nevermore Academy with the second season of Wednesday. These shows are still under wraps and are undated for now.
Here’s a list of the top TV shows to look out for in 2025 (spoiler-free!)

JANUARY/FEBRUARY:

Severance: Season 2

After the Hollywood Writer’s Strike in 2022, Severance: Season 2 delayed its premiere until January 2025. Created by Dan Erikson, Severance follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott) and a group of office workers. But their lives aren’t what they seem.

The office workers’ memories are separated into two categories – their work lives and their personal lives. One day a colleague appears outside their work lives and makes them re-think their jobs. This new season, consisting of 10 episodes continues from the Cliffhanger of season one.

The White Lotus: Season 3

The Emmy award-winning show follows a new cast each season as they travel to different countries staying at ‘The White Lotus’ chain of hotel resorts. Each season unearths dark truths, murder and mayhem of the holiday guests and hotel staff.

After the hugely successful two-season run of Mike White’s The White Lotus, the show returns for a third season with a whole new cast. This season the fresh holidaymakers travel to ‘The White Lotus’ resort in Thailand.

Noticeable cast members in season three include K-Pop sensation, LISA from BLACKPINK, British acting legend, Jason Isaacs and Mission: Impossible III’s Michelle Monaghan among a star-studded cast.

MARCH/APRIL:

Daredevil: Born Again

Arguably the best MCU series, Daredevil first premiered as a ‘Netflix Original’ show back in 2015. Later in March 2022, Disney obtained the rights to the show and many other MCU series, including The Punisher and Jessica Jones. As such the MCU shows moved to streaming giant, Disney Plus. Daredevil came to an end in 2018 after three seasons. But Matt Murdock is back after seven years (excluding his cameos in The Defenders and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021).

Daredevil: Born Again follows Matt Murdock as he continues to fight for justice in his law firm, while ex-mob boss, Wilson Frisk follows political pursuits of his own. But their past identities emerge as Matt Murdock faces his common enemy in yet another showdown. Daredevil also gets a completely revitalised look, style and suit in this new show.

The Last of Us: Season 2

The hit apocalyptic video-game turned TV show that swept the 75th Emmy Awards in 2024 returns for its highly-anticipated second season. We’re back with Joel and Ellie as they trek through the endless stampede of clickers infected with the Cordyceps fungus.

For this latest season, creator Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin promise more gore and bigger effects. There’s new cast members joining the show too including Catherine O’Hara, best known for playing Moira in Schitt’s Creek, Isabela Merced from Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019) and Netflix’s BEEF star, Young Mazino.

MAY/JUNE:

Ironheart

This new miniseries on Disney Plus is created by Chikana Hodge. Based on the Marvel Comic book character, Ironheart, the female superhero finally receives her own show. Sharing similarities with popular Marvel superhero, Iron Man, this series will feature six episodes released in phase five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Dominique Thorne, who previously played Ironheart and her alias, Riri Williams in the Black Panther franchise returns to voice the character in her own spin-off series.

JULY/AUGUST:

Eyes of Wakanda

It’s yet again a great year to be a Marvel fan as the Black Panther universe receives another spin-off series of its very own this year. Animated miniseries, Eyes of Wakanda will explore the lives of Wakandan warriors ‘through their eyes.’

The show will delve into the rich history of Wakanda and documents how the warriors travelled around the globe to collect vibranium artifacts throughout time. Black Panther star, Danai Gurira reprises her role as Okoye in this animated origin miniseries.

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER:

Marvel Zombies

Based on esteemed comic book writer, Robert Kirkman’s (The Walking Dead) 2006-released comic book of the same name brings an adapted animation miniseries to Disney Plus.

This autumn/fall sees an apocalyptic version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline. The reimagined story shows how this new generation of Marvel superheroes deals with a fast-spreading zombie virus.

Perfect for a Halloween viewing, the show will consist of six episodes with a cast full of returning Marvel superheroes including Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Dominique Thorne as Ironheart and Simu Lui returns as Shang-Chi.

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER:

Wonder Man

Another Marvel comic book character receives his own spin-off miniseries. The show follows Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor who is thrown into life as a superhero. Becoming Wonder Man is Candyman (2021) actor, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The Wonder Man star is joined by Hollywood veteran Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery and the show will tell Wonder Man’s story over eight episodes.

Top TV Shows This Year:

This year will mark big returns for the hugely successful shows of Severance, The White Lotus and The Last of Us. Other must-watch anticipated shows include season three of Yellowjackets, the second season of Disney’s Andor and the final season of The Handmaid’s Tale.

Returning dramas will no doubt hit big viewership’s this year with the third season of Squid Game and the Sex and the City spin-off, Just Like That to the fifth and final season of Netflix’s stalker drama, You.

Also returning is Suits LA which follows on from the success of the long-running American drama, Suits. As well as Prime Video’s Reacher: season three which adapts the best-selling British author, Lee Child’s action-thriller book series, Reacher.

But there’s also new and original shows to look forward to as well such as, TV showrunner powerhouse and creator of Grey’s Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes’ The Residence which depicts a whodunit murder-mystery mixed with comedy elements.

TV Shows Streaming on Apple TV+

Meanwhile Seth Rogen teams up with Apple TV+ for The Studio, a comedy series that follows Rogen’s Matt Remick as head of movie productions at the fictional Continental Studios in Hollywood.

Another Apple TV+ frontrunner is Your Friends & Neighbors – a show that follows Jon Hamm’s hedge fund manager who steals from his wealthy neighbour’s precious homes. There’s so many amazing TV shows to catch this year!

There’s plenty of prequel shows to catch too including, an expansion of Stephen King’s It franchise with the TV series prequel, It: Welcome to Derry. HBO’s hit show, Game of Thrones also receives its own prequel spin-off show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
