Lebanese director Nadine Labaki, President of the Un Certain Regard, has her Jury at Cannes

A few weeks ago, Nadine Labaki was named the President of the Un Certain Regard Jury for the 72nd Festival de Cannes. Last year, her brilliant Capernaum, her third feature, won the Jury Prize in Cannes. Back in 2007, she came to the Croisette with Caramel, showing as part of the Directors’ Fortnight. Then, in 2011, Labaki was selected in the In Certain Regard for Where Do We Go Now?

Now, the Lebanese filmmaker gets to preside over this year’s Un Certain Regard selection. “Just goes to show that sometimes life can be even better than your dreams.” the director says, “I can’t wait to see the films in the Selection. I can’t wait to debate and discuss, to be shaken up, to find inspiration in other artists’ work.”

Now announced, the 2019 Jury for the Un Certain Regard is made up of 3 women and 2 men.

Marina Foïs – Actress (Filles perdues, cheveux gras; Darling; Polisse; Irréprochable; L’Atelier)

Nurhan Sekerci-Porst – Producer (Crossing the Bridge – The Sound of Istanbul; The Edge of Heaven; Soul Kitchen; Takva; The Cut; In the Fade.)

Lisandro Alonso – Director (La Libertad; Los Muertos; Fantasma; Liverpool; Jauja)

Lukas Dhont – Director (Corps Perdu; L’Infini; Girl)

The Un Certain Regard winners will be announced on Friday 24th May.
