Somewhat solidifying its status as an Oscar frontrunner, the Sam Mendes directed war film, 1917, won the Producers Guild of America’s top film honor, outstanding producer of theatrical motion pictures. The 31st annual PGA Awards also handed out prizes to the likes of Leaving Neverland, Succession, and Fleabag in the television side.
Apollo 11 win the best documentary, continuing the streak of PGA winners not even nominated for the Academy Award. Elsewhere, Toy Story 4 was awarded best animated theatrical motion picture. And there were special honors for Ted Sarandos, Marta Kauffman, Octavia Spencer, Lionsgate’s Bombshell and Brad Pitt as part of the producing team of Plan B.
