2022 BAFTA Nomination Predictions

We’re just hours away from the announcement of the nominations for the 74th British Academy Film Awards, so it’s time to predict how they may fall this year. In the midst of overhauling their voting/nominating process and diversifying their membership ranks, last year’s BAFTA nominations included numerous shocks and snubs, particularly in the acting categories. In response to those wild nomination selections, BAFTA has made some minor changes this year.

While Best Film is still a popular vote from all members and most categories will still be decided by a small jury, the two performers in the acting categories with the highest number of votes will automatically receive a nomination and the remaining four nominations will be decided by a jury. That makes predicting two of the six nominees relatively easy and the other four open to all sorts of possibilities.

Last year, the BAFTA juries seemed completely uninterested in predicting the Oscar race and their nominations were an interesting mix of celebrating British cinema and honouring some of the major players in the broader awards season spectrum. Will they follow the same path this year or head back to playing the Oscar game?

The nominations will be announced on February 3 at 12pm GMT / 7am ET / 4am PT. Full predictions list below.
