2022 Producers Guild of America Awards Nominations Announced

The Producers Guild of America has unveiled their nominations for 2020 across three categories honouring feature films, animated films, and documentary films. In previous years, the nominees for Theatrical Motion Pictures have been a strong indication of the eventual Best Picture line-up. Last year, nine of the ten PGA nominees went on to nab a Best Picture nomination.

It’s surprising to see four sequels make the cut, given PGA has generally shied away from acknowledging franchises. The inclusion of The Whale is also quite shocking, given its all but failed to appear in the Best Picture race this season. A few notable omissions in All Quiet on the Western Front and Babylon plus any films from female filmmakers including Aftersun, She Said, The Woman King, and Women Talking.

The winners will be announced on Saturday, February 25. Full list of nominations below.
