
The Directors Guild of America has announced the winners of the 77th Directors Guild of America Awards. Sean Baker scored an upset win for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for Anora. Elsewhere, RaMell Ross took home the prize for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Feature Film for Nickel Boys, while Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontyev won the award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentaries for Porcelain War.
In previously announced tribute awards, Ang Lee was this year’s recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of distinguished achievement in feature film direction; Mary Rae Thewlis earned the Robert B. Aldrich Serve Award in recognition of extraordinary service to the DGA and its membership; and Thomas J. Whelan took home the Frank Capra Achievement Award in recognition of career achievement in the industry and service to the Directors Guild of America.
