Best International Feature Film Oscars Predictions (February)

As we head into the closing stage of the season, the battle for Best International Feature Film is coming down to a tight tussle between Norway’s Sentimental Value and Brazil’s The Secret Agent. The former just scored a victory at the BAFTAs. The latter has wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. And with no further awards before the Oscars, it’s tricky to know which way the Academy will go.

We’ll do a deeper dive in our final predictions piece of the season before the big night in a few weeks. For now, it’s hard to overlook the fact that Sentimental Value scored nominations The Secret Agent did not, particularly Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing. A big tally of nominations meant nothing last year in the battle between Emilia Pérez and I’m Still Here, but Norway feels like it has its nose out in front as the finish line approaches.
