Best Supporting Actress Oscars Predictions (November)

The highly-anticipated launch of musical phenomenon Wicked brought a new contender for Best Supporting Actress to our midst in the form of music superstar Ariana Grande. Given her music background, we all knew she’d easily handle the film’s musical numbers, but the reviews for her overall performance have been nothing short of raving. I’m still hesitant to believe Grande could end up with an Oscar in her hands, but a nomination seems all but assured.

There’s been nothing but universal praise for Conclave since its wide release in late October. Outside of Dune: Part Two, it could very well be the film with the most mentions on Oscar nomination morning. I think that might be enough to pull Isabella Rossellini along for the ride. She may not have the most screen time, but she has one mic-drop moment that brings the house down. She’s a legend who has never received an Oscar nod. This might finally be her moment.

Keep an eye on Natasha Lyonne. Shamefully, His Three Daughters doesn’t look like it’s going to get much campaign focus from Netflix, especially after they quietly dumped it on their streaming service back in September. But Lyonne’s Gotham nomination rightfully puts her back in the race. She could follow a similar trajectory to Brian Tyree Henry in 2022 for Causeway i.e. barely mentioned all season long but still nabs an Oscar nod.
