Femme Filmmakers Festival – September Is Coming

Those of you that joined me last year in the #DirectedbyWomen Worldwide Film Viewing Parties ought to be delighted to know that over at the official site they are organizing the same event this September – only this time it is for the whole month (click here). As you can imagine, then, I was rubbing my hands together so ferociously with excitement that the chafing means I might not actually be able to type anything for quite a while. I best just watch movies then.
And watching we shall all do, as we dive head-first into the 2016 #DirectedbyWomen Worldwide Film Viewing Party. Write out of L.A. is once again arranging our own viewing events, a Femme Filmmakers Festival if you will, which like last year, will involve a bunch of us getting together online (via Canada, UK, America, Hong Kong – wherever), watching movies directed by women and live chatting about it (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram – wherever). Last September we viewed the likes of Fish Tank (Andrea Arnold), Obvious Child (Gillian Robespierre), Stories We Tell (Sarah Polley), Somewhere (Sofia Coppola), to name just a few.
This year, and the date and times are preliminary given the changes we may have to incorporate, I have resourcefully selected 10 ruthlessly recommended female-directed movies – be patient – the pencilled-in schedule will be confirmed once I get a much better idea of viewership and availability. And all are welcome, so spread the word. So clear your calendar for September, and stay tuned for the Femme Filmmakers Festival line-up announcement to follow.

I make sure it's known the company's in business. I'd see that it had a certain panache. That's what I'm good at. Not the work, not the work... the presentation.
