Final Oscars Nominations Predictions – Best Makeup and Hairstyling

With the Academy’s nominations announcement drawing closer by the day, it’s time to lay it all on the line with my final Oscar nomination predictions. In the race for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, we’ve got The Substance and Wicked with the trio of key precursor nominations; BAFTA, Critics Choice Awards, and the Make-up & Hair Stylists Guild, so they feel safe for Oscar nominations.

While it was odd to see Nosferatu completely ignored by the MUAH, it would feel unfathomable to see it missing from this line-up. Likewise with A Different Man, which may have failed at BAFTA, but it’s hard to imagine the Academy ignoring it. That leaves that final spot up for grabs. For the longest time, I presumed it would be Dune: Part Two. But I think its lack of love from MUAH is far more damning than the Nosferatu snub.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice scored three nods from MUAH so it could sneak in here. But it’s hard to deny Emilia Pérez is looking likely to steamroll its way to a staggering number of nominations and this will be one category that gets swept along for the ride.

BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING PREDICTIONS:
1. The Substance (MUBI) – BAFTA, CCA, MUAH
2. Wicked (Universal Pictures) – BAFTA, CCA, MUAH
3. Nosferatu (Focus Features) – BAFTA, CCA
4. A Different Man (A24) – CCA, MUAH
5. Emilia Pérez (Netflix) – BAFTA, MUAH

Alternate: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (Warner Bros) – CCA, MUAH
