Final Oscars Predictions – Best Supporting Actress

Much like Keiran Culkin in the Best Supporting Actor race, there’s been only one name heard this season for Best Supporting Actress and that’s Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez). And, also like Culkin, she’s winning for a performance that few would call “supporting.” With wins at BAFTA, the Critics Choice Awards, the Golden Globes, and the SAG Awards, Saldaña has dominated this race and, more impressively, managed to rise above the controversy cooked up by her co-star in the final stages.

Is there a chance the PR nightmare surrounding Karla Sofía Gascón could still affect Saldaña? Eh, not really. If it was going to happen, we would have seen her miss at either the BAFTAs or the SAGs. It’s plausible she’s lost some votes, but unlikely enough to see one of her competitors snatch this one away. Saldaña has been at this for 25 years now, meaning there’s a lot of love for her in the industry, and her Oscar coronation day has arrived. Nothing could take that away.
