Golden Globes Nominations Predictions

Predicting the unpredictable Hollywood Foreign Press Association is always a foolhardy task. We know the Golden Globes nominations always throw a few surprises from leftfield (remember last year’s bizarre Cate Blanchett nomination for Where’d You Go, Bernadette?). No one should ever feel confident with attempting to prognosticate this particular nomination field.

While the Golden Globes have always been a bit of a silly farce, their nominations do tend to provide an insight into how the televised awards portion of the season may go. And, more importantly, how the wave of critics awards could mean absolutely nothing to the Oscar race.

A Globe nomination for critics awards darlings Paul Raci and Youn Yuh-jung will surely strengthen their Oscar nomination chances. A snub could be the first nail in the coffin. On the flip side, we could see a surprisingly strong showing for the critically-maligned Hillbilly Elegy that might suggest its Oscar campaign isn’t completely cooked.

So, without further ado, here are my predictions for the 78th Golden Globe Awards nominations. Take them with a very large grain of salt.
