Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another leads this year’s Dorian Awards nominations from GALECA: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics with nine nods, including Film of the Year, Director of the Year, and Screenplay of the Year. Elsewhere, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners scored eight nominations, while Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme earned five nods.
“Across genres and borders, LGBTQ filmmakers and performers are telling stories that are bold, personal, and adventurous—often in the face of cultural resistance,” said GALECA Vice President Gerrick Kennedy of this year’s Dorian nominations mix. “GALECA is proud to honor a class of nominees that don’t just reflect the moment, but challenge and expand it.”
“GALECA is excited to be able to raise a glass of bubbly and cheer some of our Dorian winners and nominees as well,” said Executive Director Diane Anderson-Minshall and president Walter Hickey in a joint statement. “It will be great to take a break from the onslaught of unsettling headlines and put a light on so many stellar creative spirits.”
Formed in 2008, GALECA now consists of over 400 professional critics and entertainment journalists (including Filmotomy’s Editor Robin Write and Awards Editor Doug Jamieson), making it one of the largest and most influential organizations of its type in the world.
The Dorian Awards will take place on March 3 at the group’s first in-person event in Los Angeles since 2020. Full list of nominations below.
