Poster Revealed for the Femme Filmmakers Festival 2019

On the 15th April 2019, the Cannes Film Festival announced their brand new poster for the upcoming event, with none other than Agnès Varda in all her glory on it. Just two days prior, I spoke to my dear friend Sezen, about a certain photograph she took.

I post the screenshot as a kind of proof of concept, just in case anyone thinks it was I that jumped on the Varda bandwagon. Not that I am saying Cannes Film Festival hacked into my private conversations and stole my idea. Of course not. Who wouldn’t want to pay loving respect to the great lady.

Sezen was of course posing in honor of Varda herself. “It is from the movie Uncle Yanco. I recreated this image for my Instagram post” she told me. “It’s very nice for me to be on the poster because Agnès Varda is one of the most important directors in my life.” Those who are not familiar with Varda’s 1967 documentary, perhaps won’t recognise the image in conversation, but it is scattered with various displays of the Viva Varda badge.

Viva Varda

I am not just saying this so not to offend a friend, but I prefer Sezen’s replica of the Uncle Yanco photo. Plus, it gives the poster for the upcoming Femme Filmmakers Festival a sense of the unique, as well as showing infinite gratitude to the flourishing cinema Varda presented to us.

The poster I designed clearly uses the colours so vivid in the image (the red hair; the white, blue, black of the badge). And wanted to keep it simple in terms of customising it – it mostly speaks for itself. So thank you Sezen for this further inspiration.

The Femme Filmmakers Festival runs from 20th to 29th September 2019. Here is the poster, available in three size formats:

FFF square
FFF wide
FFF tall

I make sure it's known the company's in business. I'd see that it had a certain panache. That's what I'm good at. Not the work, not the work... the presentation.
