The New Boy Leads 2023 AACTA Awards Nominations

Warwick Thornton’s The New Boy leads the way at the nominations for the 2023 AACTA Awards with 12 nods including Best Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, and Best Lead Actress for Cate Blanchett. Danny and Michael Philippou’s horror hit Talk to Me was close behind with 11 nominations, while Noora Niasari’s Shayda scored 10 nods. All three will compete for the top prize of Best Film against Of An Age, Sweet As, and The Royal Hotel.

Presented by the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts whose membership contains professionals from a cross-section of the screen industry, the awards are considered the highest honour in Australian film. Winners will be announced on the Gold Coast, Queensland on February 10. Full list of nominations below.
