Chloé Zhao’s Nomadland has won three Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress for Frances McDormand. Anthony Hopkins pulled off an upset win in the Best Actor category for The Father (the film also picked up Best Adapted Screenplay), while the Best Supporting Actor and Actress categories expectedly went to Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah and Yuh-jung Youn for Minari, respectively. Several films collected two awards each including Mank for Best Cinematography and Best Production Design, Sound of Metal for Best Film Editing and Best Sound, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom for Best Costume Design and Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Soul for Best Animated Feature and Best Score.
