American Society of Cinematographers Nominations Unveiled

The nominations for the 37th American Society of Cinematographers Awards for feature films and documentaries have been revealed. This year’s chosen five theatrical release nominees are Bardo (False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths)The BatmanElvisEmpire of Light, and Top Gun: Maverick, while All That Breathes, Chef’s Table: Pizza – Franco Pepe, and This Stolen Country of Mine are the three documentaries nominated.

There are several notable omissions to point out such as Janusz Kaminski (The Fabelmans), Linus Sandgren (Babylon), Florian Hoffmeister (TÁR), Russell Carpenter (Avatar: The Way of Water), James Friend (All Quiet on the Western Front), and Larkin Seiple (Everything Everywhere All at Once). But all is not lost for an Oscar nomination for these contenders. Last year, the ASC nominees only match the eventual Oscar nominees 4/5.

The ASC will announce their winners on Sunday, March 5.
