Best Costume Design Oscars Predictions (February)

Undoubtedly, the biggest surprise of the Oscar nominations in late January was the selection of Avatar: Fire and Ash for Best Costume Design. Given neither of its predecessors had scored an Oscar nomination in this category and the fact it hadn’t landed a nod this season besides one from the Costume Designers Guild, it simply wasn’t on anyone’s radar.

Regardless, this race has felt sewn up (boom, tish) for weeks now, and February only strengthened the case for Frankenstein, with wins at the BAFTAs and with the Costume Designers Guild to match its earlier victory at the Critics Choice Awards.
