Best Film Editing Oscars Predictions (November)

Kirk Baxter already owns two Academy Awards from his work with David Fincher on The Social Network and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and it seems highly likely he’s gearing up to take home a third for Mank. If he’s successful, he will join Michael Kahn, Thelma Schoonmaker, Daniel Mandell, and Ralph Dawson as the most awarded editors in the history of the Academy Awards.

With the buzz continuing to grow for Minari, I’ve moved it up into my top 5 predictions this month. Something tells me this is going to be a major contender across the board, particularly its gorgeous technical achievements like Harry Yoon’s impressive editing.

Keep an eye on everything related to The Midnight Sky. While it remains to be seen if it’s a true contender in the big races, it has the potential to dominate the tech categories, particularly with Oscar winner Stephen Mirrione in the editing room.
