The Academy’s nomination announcement in late January for Best Makeup and Hairstyling threw a couple of curveballs our way with surprise (albeit deserving) nods for Kokuho and The Ugly Stepsister. Neither received love anywhere else this season, but they both managed to snatch a spot above more likely contenders like Wicked: For Good and Marty Supreme.
Could either also be a shock winner? Well, to be fair, no. Adding to its previous win at the Critics Choice Awards, Frankenstein nabbed victories in February at the BAFTAs and with the Make-Up & Hair Stylists Guild. At this point, it feels relatively unstoppable.
