Final Oscars Predictions – Best Film Editing

The battle for Best Film Editing is a tough one to predict. F1 started the season with a win at the Critics Choice Awards, but hasn’t won anything since. BAFTA went with One Battle After Another, which also scored with the American Cinema Editors in their comedy category. Many thought the ACE drama winner would be F1, and we’d really have a split race on our hands, but it went to Sinners.

So where does that leave us? The last three Best Film Editing winners matched Best Picture, so that bodes well for presumed frontrunner One Battle After Another. In saying that, an F1 win would be reminiscent of Ford v Ferrari besting eventual Best Picture winner Parasite, so it’s entirely plausible too.

On the flipside, an early victory here for Sinners could certainly herald that it’s scoring an upset win for Best Picture. I’m sticking with One Battle After Another, but it’s a mighty close race.
