Final Oscars Predictions – Best Sound

With wins from the Cinema Audio Society, and the Motion Picture Sound Editors, Oppenheimer feels like the unstoppable frontrunner for Best Sound at the Oscars. There are rumblings of an upset victory for The Zone of Interest, which absolutely could happen especially after its upset BAFTA win. The sound design is hugely integral to the unsettling construction of the film and a win would be reminiscent of something like Sound of Metal in 2019.

That being said, the film failed to crack a win with the MPSE where they have a separate category just for international films (they went with Society of the Snow). This should and likely will be one of the many categories in the Oppenheimer sweep.
