Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another has dominated the 98th Academy Awards with six wins for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Sean Penn, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and the inaugural award for Best Casting.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners took home four awards for Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Cinematography for Autumn David Arkapaw, the first female cinematographer in history to win this prize.
For only the seventh time in history, there was a tie, with both The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva winning Best Live Action Short.
There were a few surprises, which we’ll analyse in our annual piece coming shortly.
