Oscars Video: A Very Brief History of the Best Live Action Short Winners

A somewhat sidelined Academy Award category, the Best Live Action Short has for 85 years proved its extremely high worth in film industry. Just ask any of the filmmakers what it meant to them.

This video was conceived after the February 11th announcement that AMPAS would announce four of its categories during the commercial breaks – Cinematography, Film Editing, Make-up & Hair, and Live Action Short. While editing the final parts of this video, the Academy then announced they would after all present all 24 categories within the ceremony itself. I have to say that I was far more delighted with that news than I was disappointed I couldn’t get the video out before then.

The Live Action Short film is as important as ever, and the marvel of the content in this video, showing one way or another every winner of the award, is only a glimpse of filmmaking beauty.

Please watch, leave comments or reviews, subscribe (to our channel in its infancy), and pass on the greatness. A shout out too for Amanda Spears, who initiated the #PresentAll24 hashtag movement on Twitter.

I make sure it's known the company's in business. I'd see that it had a certain panache. That's what I'm good at. Not the work, not the work... the presentation.
