Rachel Morrison Makes History With The American Society Of Cinematographers Awards Nominations

After the amazing work he’s done over the years, it looks like Hoyte Von Hoytema is finally on track to get his first Oscar nomination for Dunkirk. But Rachel Morrison managed the historic feat of being the first woman ever to be nominated for an ASC Feature Award for her work in Mudbound and she is on track to be the first woman to be nominated for the Best Cinematography Oscar.

Also, Roger Deakins landed an expected nomination for Blade Runner 2049. Whether he can pull off a win and be on track to win his overdue Oscar remains to be seen since the film is unlikely to be up for Best Picture. But this nomination proves that he is firmly on the hunt.

Theatrical Release nominees:
Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC for Blade Runner 2049
Bruno Delbonnel, ASC, AFC for Darkest Hour
Hoyte van Hoytema, ASC, FSF, NSC for Dunkirk
Rachel Morrison, ASC for Mudbound
Dan Laustsen, ASC, DFF for The Shape of Water
