There’s a hope and a fear associated, at least from where I perch on the edge of my seat, with the live-action feature remake of the glorious animated classic Beauty and the Beast. I just want it to be good. Great even. The anticipation of this Emma Watson and Dan Stevens romance has been building momentum for months now. Can it capture the heart, soul and emotion of the Disney animation from 1991?
With the trailer released just days ago, the first 24 hours mounted up a ridiculously unfathomable 127 million views in that first day. The most views in a single 24 hour period. Ever. I say views, more like clicks – or are we to assume they all watched the entire 2 minute trailer? I smile with glee even more (in spite of my lack of general interest in trailer opening day stats) as Beauty and the Beast breaks the record previously held by Fifty Shades Darker, which amassed 114 million views in 24 hours. I was not one of them.
Here is the Beauty and the Beast trailer – but you’ve already seen it, right?
Beauty and the Beast is released March 2017.
