As film lovers, Filmotomy had to visit and test the joy behind Taste Film. The idea behind Taste Film is to receive your drink and food at the same time the characters are drinking or eating the item on screen. Perfectly situated in the heart of London, with plenty of transport links – this Mean Girls (2004) screening makes you immersed into the film.
Taste Film is a fun and immersive experience which is available in major UK cities, including London, Manchester, and Edinburgh (depending on the film screening). There’s so many film screenings to choose from across various genres, from children’s animations to rom-coms, and action adventures. They’ve even introduced screenings with 7-course meals. These include such classics as Jaws (1975), The Goonies (1985), Pulp Fiction (1994), Ratatouille (2007), and many more. Prices per screening range from £82.50 to £99.95 for the 7-course menu. We have to say that this Mean Girls experience had such a packed menu that we can’t imagine what a 7-course meal would feel like!
The experience begins with a film quiz, hosted by the wonderfully enthusiastic and positively energetic, Ember. Each Taste Film quiz features specialised questions to the film you are watching. Of course, Filmotomy scored ten out of ten on the Mean Girls quiz. But we expect nothing less from our film knowledge!
Taste Film Mean Girls Menu
The graphic design on the menu was very Mean Girls-coded and definitely throws you back into experiencing the noughties nostalgia. It feels just like we are re-living the film in cinemas for the first time. There’s also cute heart doodles, iconic quotes from Mean Girls, and interesting fonts from handwriting to newspaper cuttings to fully immerse you into the style of the film.
They also had two special Mean Girls-themed drinks you could order as extras. These specials included the ‘Candy Cane Gram’ (Strawberry vodka, white crème de menthe, and cranberry juice) and the ‘High Kal Cocktail’ (Amaretto, Crème de cacao, coconut cream, oat milk, and chocolate cravings) with alcohol-free options too.
But this menu definitely adds a nice touch to the experience. You can also keep the menu too as a cool film souvenir. In terms of dietary requirements, there’s two choices – classic or vegan menus which cost £82.50 per ticket. In this review, we’ll be discussing the classic menu.

Taste Film ‘Mean Girls’ Quiz
Starter: ‘Dress Yourself Pink’
The ‘Taste Film presents Mean Girls’ starter, includes baby gem leaves, avocado, edamame beans, cucumber and herbs with breaded halloumi cheese fries and pink beetroot dressing on the side, which was presented in a Mean Girls-themed jar. This served as a great starter and was also a brilliant healthy option too. There was also popcorn in a small bowl presented on each table, although we didn’t love the taste of this.

Drink: ‘Mom’s Margs’
To coincide with the iconic introduction of Regina George’s mother, June (Amy Poehler) who brings ‘The Plastics’ a tray of pink drinks with mini umbrellas, are Taste Film’s very own version with ‘Mom’s Margs.’ The ultra-sweet combination of tequila, lime, Cointreau, and strawberry created a cute pink concoction to enjoy throughout the screening. But this was definitely the most Mean Girls-coded item on the menu. It was one of our favourites in this experience. Although the glass did seem half-filled.

Starter 2: ‘Something’s Afoot’
Next up on the menu is ‘Something’s Afoot.’ This served as a second starter and included mint tzatziki, pickled pink onions, pomegranate seeds, and sesame flatbread. We also thought this was well presented.

Main: ‘Carb Your Enthusiasm’
For the main course, Taste Film presented ‘Carb Your Enthusiasm.’ This course included fried chicken tacos with sweet potato fries, charred corn ribs, feta dressing, and chipotle mayo. The tacos were very filling and the corn also complimented the sweet potato fries very well.

Dessert: ‘Who Even Is She?’
Taste Film’s Mean Girls dessert included a large slice of rainbow sprinkle cake. For a rom-com as iconic as Mean Girls, this rainbow cake was very apt. This choice added a girly touch to the film screening. We definitely felt like we were celebrating alongside Cady as we watched her win Spring Fling Queen during the iconic North Shore High prom scene.

Highlights From Taste Film
Some of the highlights from our Taste Film experience included the ‘Mom’s Margs’ drink, the fried chicken tacos, and the rainbow sprinkle cake. Each portion was pretty filling and by the end of the experience we definitely felt the menu was to our satisfaction.

Taste Film Overall
Although the experience was not completely relaxing with the staff frantically busy which made you feel chaotic and slightly on edge throughout the screening. But we’re not too sure about the dimly-lit mini table lamps as at times you couldn’t really see what you were eating. However, I would definitely revisit Taste Film to view another classic on the screen whilst immersing yourself into an epic dining experience.
Taste Film is really for everyone. There’s a Paddington (2014) screening for all the family to enjoy, rom-coms like Bridesmaids (2011) for couples, and comedies like White Chicks (2004) to see with friends. It’s an inviting experience for all ages.
For film buffs, this is the ultimate immersive screening that you need to experience.
