Final Oscars Predictions – Best Supporting Actor

Academy Award winner Robert Downey Jr. Those are six words you’ll be able to say come Monday. After films like Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, and Sherlock Holmes gave Downey Jr. a career resurrection 15 years ago, he’s an utter certainty to score his first Oscar for his role as the nefarious Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer.

With a clean sweep of wins at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, BAFTAs, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Downey Jr. has dominated this season and no one else has really been in contention. No, not even our favourite Ken. Ryan Gosling’s time will come some day but not this year. Downey Jr. is a beloved veteran who overcame numerous professional and personal obstacles to arrive at this hallowed moment.
