Jeymes Samuel’s The Harder They Fall has won five categories at the 53rd NAACP Image Awards including Outstanding Motion Picture. Samuel was awarded Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Motion Picture) and Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation Album, which he shared with JAY-Z. The film also picked up wins for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Regina King and Outstanding Ensemble.
Elsewhere, Will Smith and Jennifer Hudson took out the leading acting categories for King Richard and Respect, respectively. Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya scored Outstanding Supporting Actor for Judas and the Black Messiah, which also won Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture for Shaka King and Outstanding Writing in a Motion Picture for King, Will Berson, Kenny Lucas, and Keith Lucas.
