Final Oscars Predictions – Best Visual Effects

From the moment the first trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Dune dropped, one thing was certain; it was winning an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. The last few months have done nothing but prove that fact. It’s perhaps the biggest lock of the evening. And I’ll be glad to say goodbye to these monthly visual effects pieces where I’ve tried to make this race more interesting than it’s ever been.

With four wins at the Visual Effects Society Awards, almost 20 wins from the critics groups, and victories at the BAFTAs and Critics Choice Awards, Dune has completely dominated this season and heads into the Oscar ceremony without the slightest shred of competition. Can I make a case for any of the other nominees? No. No, I cannot. And I won’t even bother. Dune wins this one in a cakewalk.
