WANT TO KNOW MORE

How was your Website / Podcast Conceived?

It was conceived merely as blog for my own personal writing about movies. I wanted it just as my own outlet to pursue my passion.

What makes your Website / Podcast stand out from the rest?

It focuses mostly on older films both classic and foreign. I try to get involved in themes within films that link them together. I like to think of it as how film affects me in a personal way.

Where do you stand on Streaming Services and their place in film?

Some of the best films I’ve seen recently come from streaming services. They are an unfortunate necessity however for smaller films to be seen. I prefer the theatrical experience as well as physical copies but I’ll take whatever I can get. As long as they embrace smaller films, classic films, and arthouse films, I don’t have a problem with them. As of now I choose to support Netflix and the criterion channel.

What is your Honest Opinion on the entire Star Wars saga?

I like them but they take waaaaay too much of the film conversation. The original trilogy is great, I even like the prequels. The new star wars films have interesting moments especially The Last Jedi. I like how films like these can bring people together but I hate how toxic the conversation can lead to. These are literally escapist, sci-fi fantasy films meant to be fun and the level of seriousness people give them can sometimes be ridiculous to me.

We really need a Film Twitter definition – what is yours?

Film Twitter is the place where film fans discuss films.

Share one of your most Controversial movie world opinions?

We put too much stock in the Oscars and they should go away.

Change one thing about a Masterpiece, and tell us why?

I would change any masterpiece that was altered by the studio ie. The Magnificent Ambersons because it was not what the director originally intended.

What are some of the Film Quotes you use a lot in everyday life?

I can’t say I quote in every day life but some of my favorites are “You know for kids” from The Hudsucker Proxy and “I’m the plumber, I’m here to fix her pipes” from Horse Feathers.

What is the Role of a Film Critic – and how important are they?

The role of the film critic is to express a well formed opinion of a film, an argument you might say and to hopefully engage a reader in a discussion about the artform. They aren’t there to tell you if you’re right or wrong but they are to give an informed opinion. They are very important when it comes to a cultural discussion about the artform. It’s up to the general public whether or not they want to listen to them.

A Film Buff asks you for advice starting a Website / Podcast – what do you tell them?

I’m just starting myself but I’d just say talk about what you’re passionate about to begin with.

I make sure it's known the company's in business. I'd see that it had a certain panache. That's what I'm good at. Not the work, not the work... the presentation.
